What do you like most about what you do? Any given day is typically never the same as another when working in the diverse world of Student Affairs, but the most enjoyable aspect is getting to know the students, and helping them overcome obstacles or challenges in order to reach graduation day. The GOAL (Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership) is also one of the most positive and uplifting times of the year when I get to know the best of the best students from different programs and hear their stories about how they are achieving their educational goals at NGTC. Then there is Commencement, which is the ultimate goal of NGTC. It is a great feeling to see students walk across the stage at graduation. Some made it easily and some overcame many challenges. Every student counts and we make a difference.
How long have you been at NGTC? 17 years
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you choose? Martin Luther King, Jr.
What would people never guess you do in your role here? Answer my cell phone at 2:00 AM for a call from an RA at the dorm.
What is one piece of advice you’d give the students at NGTC? Never give up – Ask for help!
