Clarkesville, GA – North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) recently named Kristie Gibbs the 2025 Employee of the Year at the college’s annual service awards luncheon.
Gibbs, director of student affairs at the Blairsville campus, has been employed by the college since Sept. 2000 and previously served as an evening operations director and bookstore manager/cashier. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentration in Computer Programming from Western Carolina University in Dec. 1993. Gibbs was nominated by fellow staff members and was complimented on her positive and outgoing attitude, creativity, kindness, and overall support of her peers and NGTC students.
“I am honored to have been nominated for and to receive the Employee of the Year award,” said Gibbs. I am incredibly blessed to work with an amazing group of coworkers who encourage, inspire, uplift, and motivate not only me but also the students we serve.”
“Kristie Gibbs is passionate about providing high-quality services for students in a positive, can-do manner,” said Dr. Vinson Burdette, NGTC vice president of student affairs. “Her interactions with faculty, staff, and students are characterized by energy, enthusiasm, and encouragement. Although Kristie likes to sing ‘You Are My Sunshine’ to others, she is a beam of light and hope for employees and for students. As an employee with a stellar record of supporting NGTC and its students, Kristie deserves the recognition this award provides.”
Gibbs lives in Ducktown, Tenn., and enjoys reading, thrifting, and walking or going to the gym.
NGTC President John Wilkinson also presented the 2025 Employee Service Awards, recognizing those who have given distinguished years of service to NGTC and the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG).
Five-year service award recipients included Daniel Card of Clarkesville, Ga.; Leora Chitwood of Alto, Ga.; Jocelyn Dixon of Cornelia, Ga.; Jenrette Fowler of Richmond Hill, Ga.; Barbie Gallimore of Toccoa, Ga.; Bryan Hartzog of Toccoa, Ga.; Melanie Maxwell of Clarkesville, Ga.; Michelle Oglesby of Toccoa, Ga.; Kelly Rhoades of Clarkesville, Ga.; Rob Roland of Demorest, Ga.; Jack Smith of Blairsville, Ga.; and Michelle Wood of Mount Airy, Ga.
10-year service award recipients were Dusty Bolman of Toccoa, Ga.; Mallory Hicks of Cleveland, Ga.; Derrick Hogan of Demorest, Ga.; Vanessa Lone of Toccoa, Ga.; Teina Lovvorn of Blairsville, Ga.; Kim Randall of Martin, Ga.; Dolly Sisengchanh of Cornelia, Ga.; Melissa Thacker of Toccoa, Ga.; and Barbara Wheatley of Blairsville, Ga.
15-year certificates were awarded to Deland Docsol of Toccoa, Ga.; Allyson Hirst of Cleveland, Ga.; and Johnnie Williams of Eastanollee, Ga.
Kevin Peyton of Clarkesville, Ga., was recognized for 20 years of service with NGTC.
Brad Cagle of Helen, Ga., and Tony Fulbright of Toccoa, Ga., were recognized for an outstanding 25 years of service.
