Clarkesville, GA – North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) celebrated the official opening of the new Wastewater Training Site on Thursday, May 15. Located on the Clarkesville campus, the training site is the first of its kind in Georgia and will be utilized by industry professionals as part of a new wastewater continuing education program focused on septic system installation, industry fundamentals and practical problem-solving techniques.
The new continuing education program and training site were developed in partnership with on-site wastewater consultant, Harold Kilgore of Talmo, Ga. Kilgore is the owner/operator of Gravelator Systems, Inc. and has been a septic system installer and educator for many years. NGTC and Kilgore also consulted with the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) on design of the training site and workshops.
“This project is a shining example of what can happen when strong relationships and shared vision come together,” stated Leslie McFarlin, NGTC vice president of economic development. “What you see here today is a direct result of Harold’s dedication and the college’s mission to meet the workforce needs of our region and our state. This training site will provide vital continuing education for septic installers, pumpers, portable sanitation professionals, and soil scientists – ensuring safety, professionalism and sustainability in this essential industry.”
