What is Move On When Ready?

Move On When Ready allows high school juniors and seniors to complete their high school diploma while enrolling full-time at NGTC. Although students take all classes at NGTC, they can participate in high school activiites. Every class taken will count as both college and high school credit.

Why should I consider Move On When Ready?

Move On When Ready is a great opportunity to not only receive college credit, but to take all classes in a college environment. This program is appropriate for students seeking to advance their college career while finishing high school.

Who is eligible for Move On When Ready?

To be eligible for participation in Move On When Ready, a student must:

  • Be a high school junior or senior seeking a high school diploma from an eligible Georgia high school
  • Be reported as enrolled in a public school for funding purposes during the preceding October and March full-time equivalent (FTE) program counts
  • Be enrolled full-time in an eligible college or university or public technical college as a dual credit student taking approved college-level courses
  • Be a legal resident of Georgia
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress towards fulfilling applicable high school graduation requirements
  • Meet all college admission and registration requirements.

What classes can I take?

Any degree-level or technical course required for high school graduation. Check with your counselor or contact the NGTC High School Coordinator for more information.

How much does it cost?

Move On When Ready students may only pay for books and supplies at North Georgia Technical College!

Currently, dual enrollment funding for Move On When Ready students is provided through FTE, as arranged by the Georgia Department of Education. The eligible post-secondary institution shall accept the FTE payment as full payment for tuition, fees and materials.  The student and parents/guardians would be responsible for all other possible expenses such as books, food, lodging, transportation, etc. Courses taken through Move On When Ready do not count against HOPE Scholarship or HOPE Grant hours.
