Job Description

Responsible for testing specimens without the direct supervision of a Medical Technologist, however a Medical Technologist must be available at all times and all testing done for the shift must be reviewed by a Medical Technologist. Answering phones, data entry, and correspondence for the department. Couriers between departments when necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for testing specimens, venipuncture and blood draws for all age groups. Responsible data entry for logging specimens and maintaining log recordkeeping. Maintains high level demand of workload. Other duties as assigned.

Schedule:

Wednesday-Friday, 7 pm-7 am

Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high stress level environment

Must have strong interpersonal skills

Must have good written and verbal communication skills

Must be able to work in conjunction and partnership with staff from other departments

Competencies and Skills:

Venipunture and other phlebotomy skills

Must be able to work laboratory equipment

Serves as an example of ethics and integrity in the workplace

Able to operate Computer software including Microsoft Suite

Working knowledge of use of clerical equipment, including copy machine, facsimile machine, telephone

Must be able to make sound decisions

Must be flexible and adapt to change well

Problem Solving and Critical Thinking

Education/Experience

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED required. Associates degree required. Can be an entry level position, however a minimum of one year of MLT experience is preferred

Required Licensure/Certification:

ASCP certification is required.
