The Business Technology program provides learning opportunities which introduce, develop, and reinforce academic and occupational knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications software.

Business Technology Degree
The Business Technology degree program prepares students for employment in a variety of positions in today’s technology-driven workplaces. Students are also introduced to accounting fundamentals, electronic communications, internet research, and electronic file management. The program includes instruction in effective communication skills and terminology that encompasses office management and executive assistant qualifications and technology innovations for the office. Additionally, the program provides opportunities to upgrade present knowledge and skills or to retrain in the area of administrative technology. Graduates of the program receive a Business Technology Associate of Applied Science Degree.
Business Technology Diploma
The Business Technology diploma program prepares students for employment in a variety of positions in today’s technology-driven workplaces. Students are also introduced to accounting fundamentals, electronic communications, internet research, and electronic file management. The program includes instruction in effective communication skills and technology that encompasses office management and executive assistant qualifications and technology innovations for the office. Also provided are opportunities to upgrade present knowledge and skills or to retrain in the area of business technology. Graduates of the program receive a Business Technology diploma with a specialization in one of the following: Business Administrative Assistant or Medical Administrative Assistant.

Meet the Faculty
Mona Williams joined the full-time faculty at the college in 2017. She has taught Business Technology since 2002. Williams earned a master of business education degree from the University of West Georgia. She is also very active in Phi Beta Lambda as an advisor and received the Phi Beta Lambda Advisor of the Year award in 2012, 2013, and 2016.
Rod Smith has over 30 years work experience in a variety of business settings. He has worked in the telecommunications arena as a marketing specialists, corporate business to business sales, and systems deployment. His work experience included extensive travel around the globe, working with telecom systems in Asia, Europe, Russia, Africa, Latin America, Canada, the Caribbean and the US. Prior to working in telecom, he was in the automotive aftermarket business working in distribution, remanufacturing, and machine shop services. There his primary responsibilities were in sales and computer systems management. Additionally Smith was an entrepreneur in professional photography working in event and wedding photography. He also worked in denominational administration as an education trainer.
As an educator Rodney has taught within the Technical College System of Georgia since 2007. He has been an adjunct instructor at West Georgia Technical College, and a full time instructor at Ogeechee Technical College prior to his current role at North Georgia Technical College.
He earned his master’s degrees in Business Education from the University of West Georgia, and a Master of Divinity Degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He began his collegiate work at the Georgia Institute of Technology prior to transferring to Samford University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Mr. Smith grew up in Rome, Georgia. He presently balances residential life in Atlanta and Toccoa Georgia.
