White County will be accepting applications for the position of Administrative Assistant in the Public Works - Road Dept. JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing administrative support for department operations.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Enters daily from employee worksheets into computer program, including job location, personnel involved, time and materials, equipment hours and mileage, etc.
  • Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; enters work order requests.
  • Provides secretarial and administrative support for a variety of department personnel and activities.
  • Works with other county and state agencies on collaborative construction and maintenance projects.
  • Maintains files and records; copies and scans documents; maintains office supply inventory.
  • Prepares a variety of spreadsheets, forms, and reports as requested.
  • Performs related duties.

  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of records management principles.
  • Skill in the provision of customer services.
  • Skill in the use of a multi-line telephone system.
  • Skill in the preparation of reports.
  • Skill in the use of office equipment.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.

Education/Experience: 

  • Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
