Clarkesville, GA — North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) student Christie Campbell of Bowersville, Ga., and Adult Education Department instructor Randy Wood of Carnesville, Ga., were recognized as the 2024 NGTC Adult Education student and instructor of the year at the recent Habersham Rotary meeting.

Campbell and Wood will represent NGTC at the Dinah Culbreath Wayne Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) Leadership Institute in Atlanta March 25-27, 2024. The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), through its Office of Adult Education, sponsors the annual Dinah Culbreath Wayne EAGLE Leadership Institute, which is the first statewide program in the nation that recognizes and rewards excellence among students enrolled in adult education programs. This recognition program is designed to create greater awareness of educational opportunities that are available in local communities across the state and to foster greater involvement in lifelong learning pursuits.

Campbell completed her GED through the North Georgia Technical College Franklin County Adult Education Center in January of 2023. She is currently employed by Chick-fil-A of Lavonia as the catering director.

Wood is a full-time instructor and has taught in the NGTC Adult Education Department for three years. In addition to teaching day and evening high school equivalency preparation classes on the NGTC Currahee campus, he also teaches at the Franklin County Adult Education Center.

“Christie and Randy will represent NGTC well at the 2024 Dinah Culbreath Wayne EAGLE Leadership Institute,” said NGTC Dean for Adult Education Shelby Ward. “Christie has worked tremendously, and we are so very proud of her accomplishments. She has a very bright future ahead! And Randy is such a dedicated instructor who goes above and beyond for his students. He provides quality instruction, utilizing all available technology, and we celebrate his wonderful achievement and are very proud of his excellent work with his students!”
