Job Description: 

The Director of Valor Academy is responsible for the oversight and daily operational leadership of all Pre-School education for Valor Academy. This director will work in collaboration with teachers and parents to design, implement, oversee, and evaluate a Christ-centered and developmentally appropriate educational program with the goal of, “Glorifying God by making disciples of all nations through a Christ centered education.” The Preschool Director should be a servant leader who loves children and desires to reach children and families with the truth of the gospel and lay a foundation for children spiritually, emotionally, relationally, and intellectually. The director will oversee all daily operations and report directly to the Board of Directors; thus, the ideal candidate is passionate about Early Childhood Education, has classroom management experience, is very organized, a self-starter, a solutions-oriented leader with excellent communication skills and a proven record of maintaining effective relationships with staff, parents, and children.

Work Schedule
Monday through Friday (Full-time); occasional evenings and weekends as required.

Job Duties
Administrative Duties:
● In partnership with the Board of Directors, provide leadership and vision for the preschool program.
● Evaluate all aspects of the preschool, including program design, staff utilization, collaborations, and family and community relationships, curricula, faculty climate and evaluations.
● Develop a strategic plan for the preschool to meet organizational goals set by the Board of Directors.
● Ensure program activities reflect best practices in child development and in consultation with the Board of Directors, implement changes that will allow the preschool to remain both an innovative and model center.
● Ensure the preschool provides inclusive, developmentally appropriate, and Christian-based learning experiences and activities.
● Ensure an environment that is physically and emotionally safe for children.
● Foster an atmosphere of positive communication and partnership with parents/guardians.
● Serve as the primary point person for the State of Georgia regulating agencies and other partner organizations, regulators, or grantors.
● Ensure compliance with licensing and all contracts including reporting, and maintenance of student records and attendance.
● Prepare an annual program budget, monitor all expenditures to meet projections, working closely with the Board of Directors and CFO.
● Ensure proper maintenance of waiting lists, and an efficient registration process in collaboration with the Valor Academy Business Office.
● Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Board of Directors.

Supervision Duties:
● Recruit, hire, train, and provide ongoing direct supervision of all program staff.
● Conduct quarterly performance evaluations for staff, provide feedback, and facilitate development and improvement as needed.
● In consultation with the Board of Directors, implement a staff professional development curriculum to ensure ongoing professional development.

Desired/Required Skills: 

Position Requirements
● Mandatory compliance with Required Spiritual Qualities set by the Board of Directors (see below).
● Mandatory compliance with the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning: Bright From The Start rules and regulations for childcare learning directors. See attached rules from GA code 591-1-1.
● Knowledge of Georgia State childcare licensing requirements; Ability to manage all aspects of a preschool program including staff supervision, contract management, budgeting and financial oversight, child recruitment/registration and curriculum development.
● We are seeking candidates with proven supervision and leadership skills, excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work well with a diverse population of children, families, staff, and volunteers.
● Familiarity and comfort working with computer programs (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Etc.) and internet is preferred.
● Skilled at working with regulators, grantors, and the donor community.
● Valid Georgia State Driver’s License
● Valid background check as required by Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning: Bright From The Start rules and regulations for childcare learning centers.
● Possess good hand-eye coordination, visual acuity, hearing and mobility with normal bending and stooping that may require the ability to lift 10 to 50 pounds

● Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ followed through with Baptism.
● Acknowledge Christ as Savior and seek to live life as His disciple.
● Believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God—our standard for faith and practice.
● Believe and actively support the school’s statement of faith.
● Demonstrate a desire for spiritual growth as evidenced by his or her prayer life, Bible study, and spiritual outreach to others.
● Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others (Luke 6:40).
● Evidence of the fruit of the Spirit in interactions with people.
● Willingness and capability to clearly share the Gospel with both children and adults.
● Must have a calling to minister to children, have good communication skills with children, and possess an understanding of how to lead children to a relationship with Jesus and teach them relevant Biblical truths to help them grow in their faith.

Education/Experience: 

Two years of previous experience as a child development program director or educator desired.
