Clarkesville, GA — North Georgia Technical College recently hosted a community fundraiser “Green, Jeans & Irish Cuisine” and raised more than $10,000 for the North Georgia Technical College Foundation, benefiting the college’s culinary arts program at the Currahee and Blairsville campuses.

The third annual event which featured authentic Irish cuisine and live music was held at the Currahee campus conference center and showcased the culinary students’ work, along with the assistance of the students’ instructors, chefs Chris Bladowski, Alex Bladowski and Danielle Vaughn.

“We always enjoy hosting such a wonderful night that spotlights our culinary students work in such a celebrative way with St. Patrick’s Day,” said NGTC President Dr. Mark Ivester. “Our community really supports this annual event and we appreciate the great attendance and all the money raised to help support these talented culinary students.”

One of the highlights of the evening included a raffle of two tickets to the Broadway musical, Hamilton, at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. Winner Tricia Hise of Clarkesville won the raffle, but instead, donated her two tickets to Kathleen Delee, one of the culinary students especially eager to see the musical with her nephew.

“We appreciate the wonderful donations for the evening from our sponsors who really made this evening so magical for our students. They were all having a great evening showing off their work to the community while learning real-life work experience as future chefs,” said Vice President of Community and College Relations Amy Hulsey. “We also are so thankful to Currahee Vineyards for their generous support of our college and our culinary program. They helped make the evening a great success.”
