Clarkesville, GA — North Georgia Technical College recently award Tammy Keyes of Hiawassee, Ga., the 2021 Employee of the Year by the college’s Executive Team.
Keyes, an accounts payable specialist in administrative services, has been employed by the college since 1998 and previously served as cashier for the college. Keyes was nominated by fellow staff members and was complimented on her job expertise and willingness to help others throughout the business office and volunteer for additional duties as needed, especially during the pandemic academic year.
“This is such an honor and I’m very humbled and overwhelmed to receive this award,” said Keyes upon her surprise announcement. “Everyone nominated should have won as we all worked hard last year during the pandemic to make vital adjustments to best serve our students. I want to treat others as I would want to be treated and help wherever I can. We are all a family here at NGTC, and we are always there for one another.”
“Tammy is truly a joy to have on our team, and her willingness to help others is always evident,” said her supervisor, Executive Vice President Michele Shirley. “She not only makes our department better because of her positive approach to her job, but she makes the college as a whole a better place to be.”
“We are very proud of Tammy and congratulate her for a job well done,” said NGTC President John Wilkinson. “I know she has done an outstanding job during a tough year, and I know all of her colleagues are thankful for her kind spirit and service to our students and the college.”
Keyes lives in Hiawassee with her husband Steve and enjoys fishing, traveling with her family and spending time with her three grandchildren.
