Clarkesville, GA — The North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) Foundation announces the area recipients of the Dr. Mark A. Ivester Memorial Scholarship for 2023.  

A $500 scholarship was awarded to one graduating senior from each high school and Mountain Education Center in NGTC’s eight-county service area. This special scholarship recognizes students who either excelled in a technical career program during high school or dual enrolled at the college and plan to continue their education at NGTC following high school graduation. The scholarship recipients were announced at their respective school’s honors day recognitions.

This year’s award recipients are:  

Emily Salas, Fannin County High School; 
Vanesa Medrano-Romas, Fannin County Mountain Education Charter High School; 
Maya Thomas, Franklin County High School; 
Alina Barrs, Habersham County Mountain Education Charter High School; 
Francisco Hernandez, Habersham Central High School; 
Andrew James Speed, Rabun County High School; 
Blake Tifton Mullins, Rabun County Mountain Education Charter High School; 
Colton Bartmas, Stephens County High School;
Destiny Powell, Stephens County Mountain Education Charter High School; 
Jozie King, Towns County High School; 
Michaela Grace Caldwell, Union County High School; 
William M. Anderson, Union County Mountain Education Charter High School; 
Laura Ivey, White County Mountain Education Charter High School; 
Zachary Hughes, White County High School. 

The NGTC Foundation will award numerous other scholarships for the upcoming fall 2023 semester, and students are encouraged to apply online at northgatech.edu/foundation before the July 24 deadline. Fall semester begins Aug. 21.  

The NGTC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit created to enhance educational opportunities at North Georgia Technical College. The Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of trustees made up of representatives from NGTC’s eight-county service area. The mission of the Foundation is to create awareness of the financial needs of the college and encourage donations of resources which are managed wisely to assure quality education for its students. One way the Foundation Board of Trustees supports this mission is through the awarding of scholarships to deserving students with a demonstrated financial need.
