Clarkesville, GA – North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) students brought home the Platinum Chapter Award of Merit and other top awards from the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference held in Atlanta. The NGTC FBLA Chapter received a total of 13 individual, team, or chapter awards with all four students qualifying to attend the 2024 National Leadership Conference.

In addition to receiving the Platinum Chapter Award of Merit, the NGTC FBLA Chapter received second place for March of Dimes donations. Adrionna Spencer of Blairsville, Ga., received the Who’s Who in Georgia FBLA Collegiate Award, while Deborah Boemanns of Blairsville, Ga.; Karen Hicks of Blue Ridge, Ga.; and Spencer received the Wings of Excellence Awards.

First place winners included Boemanns in Business Communications and Spencer in the Hospitality Management Case competition. Spencer also claimed second place in the State of the Chapter presentation. Third place winners included Renee Petenbrink of Toccoa, Ga., in Emerging Business Issues; Spencer in the Future Business Executive competition; and Karen Hicks in Retail Management. Hicks also received fifth place in the Business Ethics competition.

FBLA advisers are Mona Williams, business technology instructor; Angela Banks, business technology instructor; and Emily Sullens, career services coordinator. The NGTC FBLA Chapter also earned the HotShot Chapter Award in December 2023 in recognition of completing chapter activities and objectives early in the academic year.

“North Georgia Technical College would like to congratulate our FBLA students and advisers on their success during the 2024 FBLA State Leadership Conference,” said NGTC President John Wilkinson. “It is evident that our FBLA Chapter is dedicated to achieving excellence while promoting leadership, teamwork, and professionalism. We are proud to have such outstanding individuals representing our college and community and wish them much success at the 2024 National Leadership Conference.”

We look forward to attending the national leadership conference and witnessing their continued hard work.”
