Clarkesville, GA – North Georgia Technical College will offer additional classes for Commercial Truck Driving beginning fall semester 2022 to meet the increased demand resulting from federal and state changes.

As of February 2022, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) regulations now require entry-level drivers to successfully complete training through a technical school or other certified training provider to obtain a CDL, upgrade a CDL, or obtain a passenger, school bus or hazmat endorsement. The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) has also regulated CDL licensure as a pre-requisite to the Electrical Lineworker program. NGTC will require students to show proof of a CDL to be admitted into the Electrical Lineworker program beginning summer semester 2022.

Day classes will be offered at the Clarkesville campus. Acceptance for both the Commercial Truck Driving program and Electrical Lineworker program will continue to be on a first-come, first-served basis. The fall 2022 application deadline is August 4, 2022. Scholarships are available through the NGTC Foundation.
