Clarkesville, GA — North Georgia Technical College Foundation recently received a $12,000 grant from the Gene Haas Foundation to support student scholarships and student competition teams. The scholarships will be awarded to students who are currently enrolled or will be enrolling in a Computer Numeric Control (CNC) technology training or CNC machining-based engineering program at North Georgia Technical College. Scholarships may be used for tuition, books, fees and tools required by the program.
Haas Automation, Inc., founded by Gene Haas in 1983, is America’s leading builder of CNC machine tools and is now a billion-dollar company. The Gene Haas Foundation’s primary goal is to build skills in the machining industry by providing scholarships for CNC machine technology students.
“We really appreciate what Haas and Phillips Corporation does for our program and students here at North Georgia Technical College,” said Shannon Gary, NGTC CNC instructor. “Haas is a big part of our machining program and the success of our students.”
This is the second consecutive year that the Gene Haas Foundation has donated funds to the NGTC Foundation for students’ financial needs.
