Clarkesville, GA – Twenty North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) photography students recently received honors during the 2023 Georgia Mountain Fair Photography Contest and Exhibit held in Hiawassee, Ga. Photography categories included People; Scenery; Flora; Fauna; and Abstract. 

Elias Arrendale of Demorest, Ga., claimed fourth place in the Scenery category for his work titled Train to Hartwell, while Lauren Andrews of Cumming, Ga., placed fifth in the Abstract category for her work, Blooming Death.  

Students receiving an honorable mention were Lanise Baer of Macon; Elain Brown of Clarkesville; Connor Cochran of Peachtree City; Samantha Collari of Dacula; Caitlin Flowers of Cleveland; Gillian Friedman of Evans; Kathleen Gilliland of Blue Ridge; Joshua Hart of Toccoa; Regginald Holloway of Atlanta; Sydney Luiz of Fortson; Chelsey Morales of Hartwell; Benjamin Nalley of Jefferson; Tammy Olaes of Clarkesville; Samantha Palmer of Demorest; Anayeli Ramirez of Alto; Melsawn Reid of Dacula; Stephanie Rodriguez of Alto; and Emma-Rose Sarnowski of Flowery Branch. 

The students participated under the advisement of Melissa Henderson, NGTC photography program director/instructor. Student entries are currently on display for the public in the Visual Technology Center located on the NGTC Clarkesville campus.  

“Twenty budding photographers from NGTC seized the spotlight at the recent Georgia Mountain Fair Photo Contest and Exhibit,” said NGTC Vice President of Academic Affairs Mindy Glander. “With an eye for creativity and a passion for storytelling, they etched their presence in the world of photography. Their remarkable achievements mirror the dedication and perseverance that encapsulate the spirit of NGTC’s photography program. Through the art of photography, these students not only capture moments but also shape their own futures. Their success inspires us all to focus on our dreams and frame them with determination. Congratulations to our talented photographers and their outstanding performance!”
