Clarkesville, GA – North Georgia Technical College is hosting some unique athletic treasures from the University of Georgia’s Hargrett Library Tour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Apr. 18, at the Clarkesville campus library.
Jason Hasty, UGA Athletics History Specialist, will be bringing select artifacts from the UGA Athletic Association Archives. These historic UGA athletic materials – uniforms, equipment, and more – are from the archives of the UGA Athletic Association and are held in the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, which is one of three archival libraries at the University of Georgia.
“All UGA fans will want to be a part of this one-day-only event to catch a glimpse of these historical treasures. Sports enthusiasts are encouraged to come and spend time reliving or learning about some great moments in history,” said Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Marketing Amy Hulsey. “Our college is very excited to host UGA right here in our community, so we hope many people will put on their red and black and come visit the exhibit!”
NGTC Librarian Jamey Wilkes is an avid Dawgs fan and looks forward to the event. “I am very excited to host the University of Georgia athletics exhibit in our library,” said Wilkes. “I can’t wait to see the memorabilia and treasures from the UGA library. This is an incredible opportunity for us here at North Georgia Technical College, and I know we will have a great turnout for this unique experience. Go Dawgs!”
The event is free and open to the public. The NGTC library is located in the Carlton Center at 1500 Highway 197 North. For more information regarding North Georgia Technical College programs or admission, visit northgatech.edu or call 706-754-7700.
