Our team in Industrial Group is looking for a Toolmaker (B) to join them. You will report to the Tooling Supervisor/Engineer and will have an onsite, 1st shift work schedule in Murphy, North Carolina.

As a Toolmaker (B), you will:

  • Work in the construction, repair, maintenance, and calibration of machine shop tools, jigs, fixtures, and instruments
  • Operate various machine tools and perform other skilled work from drawings.
  • Sketch with tool request from foreman or manufacturing engineers on what is required, using analysis, consult handbook and tables.
  • Cut material from stock or orders.
  • Draw tools from tool crib, lay out work, and perform all machining.
  • Perform heat treating/grinding or other special processes.

Education/Experience: 

To be considered for Toolmaker (B), here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred. Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Typically, at least 3 years of experience in tooling (not including trade school).
  • Must understand safety in using and be able to perform precision duties in the fabrication of tools and fixtures.
  • Experience working all phases of machine tool and die practice and be able to work close tolerance to +/-.0005.
